Oak View Group International Venue Alliance continues growth into Continental Europe

  • Dusseldorf-based D.LIVE venues join Oak View Group’s International Venue Alliance
  • German venues join other founding members Silverstone Circuit and NEC Group in the UK
  • Agreement to help venues deliver world-class content and corporate partnerships

Oak View Group (OVG), the global venue development, advisory and investment company for the sports and live entertainment industries, today announced another new founding member of its International Venue Alliance.

The Alliance’s first members in continental Europe are the MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA, ISS DOME, Mitsubishi Electric HALLE, alltours Kino and CASTELLO Dusseldorf, and are part of the Dusseldorf-based D.LIVE group of venues. The news follows the recent announcement that Silverstone Circuit and the NEC Group in the UK joined the Alliance as founding members.

The Alliance is modelled on OVG’s highly successful Arena and Stadium Alliance in the United States, an invitation-only partnership of 28 arenas which enables independent venues to attract global, regional and local sponsorship opportunities, additional events and content, and achieve efficiencies of scale.

D.LIVE offers a unique portfolio of venues to promoters and fans – from 54.000 seat MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA stadium, the 13.000 seats State-of-the Art ISS DOME, iconic Mitsubishi Electric HALLE with a 7.500 seat capacity, the 3.000 seat CASTELLO to the alltours open air cinema. Its venues can accommodate audiences as small as 1,800 and as large as 54,000.

Commenting on the partnership, Sam Piccione, Oak View Group’s International President, said: “We’re delighted to see the OVG International Venue Alliance develop and expand into continental Europe with the addition of D.LIVE group of venues. As with Silverstone and NEC Group, we’ll be helping D.LIVE venues deliver world-class events, content and corporate partnerships. Dusseldorf is an important city in the live event space and we appreciate their trust and vision to join the OVG International Venue Alliance.”

Michael Brill, CEO of D.LIVE Venues of Dusseldorf: “We offer the most diverse portfolio of live entertainment venues in Germany to agents, promoters, sport federations and producers. Our membership of the International Venue Alliance will ensure we grow our market position and we are looking forward to seeing the success of the Alliance as it develops.”

The partnerships follow the launch of Oak View Group International in March; the announcement of its first European development project – the Santa Giulia arena in Milan; and the announcement that Oak View Group is to begin public consultation on the construction of a new arena in Manchester.
